I have tried to put a USB 2.0 Cardbus card on my Sony Vaio PCG-FXA33 laptop without success. The cards I have tried usually only work if I disable the high-speed drivers, and leave it at the slower USB 1.1 settings. Another card I tried actually turns off the laptop when the laptop boots or the card is inserted.

I know the cards are good because they work in different brands of laptops.

Any ideas on a USB 2.0 Cardbus card that will work in a Sony Vaio, or do I have to replace my laptop to get USB 2.0 capability?

I had a similar problem on my Dell desk top PC I installed a USB 2.0 PCI in my PC

And it did not work until I installed the Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Try running windows update and install the Service Pack 2 (SP2) this might solve your problem
