Ever since I installed a Linksys BEFSX41 firewall/router I've had problems connecting to IE; more than half the time I get the Page Cannot Be Displayed message rather than my home page. I already have Zone Alarm, McAfee, Spybot and AdAware; do I really need the firewall/router? I keep the aforementioned and Windows updated.

I went on Google and Jeeves to read up on this Linksys BEFSX41 firewall/router and all I found was a bunch of complaints in regards to this product People seem to be very unhappy with it and can't find a solution to their problems I think you should contact the company's technology departs for help, if the following doesn't work.

Please try the following to repair IE.

If no Internet application like IE, Outlook Express or other browsers are working,

it may be due to corrupted Winsock registry entries.

First make sure you can connect to the Internet.

Ping a web site by name (e.g ping www.yahoo.com)

If you get a response back, then you can connect to the Internet.

If not here are some basic steps:

1 Delete the corrupted Winsock registry entries

2 Import clean ones

3 Make sure you have the source files from the same location they were installed

4 Do a Start / Run / rundll32 setupwbv.dll, IE6Maintenance

5 You will then be given the options to add a Component or Repair

Good Luck!
