I am running Windows 2000 and my computer freezes. A friend has the same system and they were able to upgrade their BIOS to fix the problem. The problem is they were using Windows 98 and I'm using 2000. I need to be able to get to DOS in order to upgrade the BIOS. When I try to run it through the DOS window in Windows it says that won't work and that I need to boot directly into DOS in order to run the upgrade. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Justin

BIOS Update Procedure (If neccessary)

1 Use Update using Aflash BIOS Update Procedure

ASUS Online Update (Download from ASUS WWW ` FTP) for latest version BIOS and save it on a floppy disk

Use the floppy disk as described in above to boot.

In A:\ DOS mode, please unzip AFLASH.EXE

In MAIN MENU, please choose Update BIOS Main Block From File Please refer to

[2 Update BIOS Including Boot Block and ESCD] .

After the procedure has complete, remove the disk from the floppy drive and shutdown the power

Reboot, hold down <DELETE> key and enter BIOS menu You must choose "LOAD SETUP DEFAULTS" to activate the new BIOS, then reconfig other items in the BIOS menu

Go to C/windows and look for a folder called Faultlog.txt Open it and it should display all the faults that have occurred Post a few so we can see if theres anything in particular thats causing it.
