This isn't really a problem but it's something i was trying to find out. I was on our old computer and it froze up. Instead of turning it off using the power switch on the front of the computer, I used the switch that goes to the power outlet in which the computer was plugged. Then when I rebooted the computer, everything on the hard drive was deleted and the screen with the OS start/configuration setting came up.We had to have a friend reinstall all the programs and software again. How come when I flipped the outlet switch, it crashed our computer like this?

The best thing you should of done was hit Control Alt Delete and click end task By you unplugging the computer outlet, the hard drive didn't have a chance to save any of your programs and possibly wipedout critical files on the hard drive.
