My desktop computer will only start up in safe mode. If I try to boot up normally it freezes half way through start up. I am running Windows XP Pro with a AMD 2400 XP processor and have 512 of ram. It was starting ok up untill two days ago when I had just shut down and then my son tried to start it and it just froze. Can you give me any tips on what has gone wrong or where to look for problems Thanks James Banks

Since you are being able to start windows in safe mode you could do two things.

If you ever created a restore point it would be a good tool now, but what if you never created a restore point, there is another very easy tool and this is "The last good Known Configuration".

Restart you computer and as soon as it starts booting up press the F8 key, this will take you to a menu and from there pick the option Last Good Known Configuration and you are done.
