Why you can't send a message in AIM

I have AOL IM and when I try to send someone a message, all I get is a noise, like a beep, when I hit any key. I have tried sending messages under my different screen names and I get the same problem with each one. This just started happening a few days ago. I've tried restoring my computer, but that doesn't help any.

I am not sure what version you have but if it's 5.9, try using an older version instead and see if it still happens.
