I can’t install RealPlayer Free version
I have Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 2 Installed). I have downloaded RealPlayer (which is free) but could not install it properly. In the program menu it shows but it does not get started. Even it could not be uninstalled as it shows that uninstaller is unavailable!!!.
I have Windows media player running perfectly.
The error message is - Shell executable setup program has encountered an unknown error. So it must close. When the program installation is 48% then the message comes. only the installation procedure gets shut down
After that I uninstalled it manually. Redownloading and reinstalling does not help.
Can anyone help??

You'll need to remove the player twice, using a specific file called r1pclean This process is also necessary if the RealPlayer doesn't open when you click on its icon.
1 Open My Computer.
2 Double-click Local Disk (C:).
3 Double-click Program Files.
4 Double-click Real.
5 Double-click RealPlayer (or RealOne Player).
6 Double-click Setup.
7 Double-click .r1pclean.
8 Click Yes.
You should get the message 'Uninstaller component missing'.
9 Click OK.
10 Double-click .r1pclean again.
11 Click Yes.
This should remove the error message and allow you to reinstall the player from www.real.com or the Downloads page http://service.real.com/realplayer/downloads/.
