Why your computer give an alternating beep

My computer when switched on gives an alternating beeping sound with no display on the monitor. What could be wrong?

I know this sounds silly but is your monitor fully plugged in Happens to everyone including me the monitor cord came 1/2 way outta the computer May be ur graphics card or some kinda faulty hardware, but check that first .
