Why task manager is running constantly?

When I turn on my computer task manager is running constantly. When I go to the process tab it shows about 60 items with .exe running. Do I have to leave these running or can I end them without doing any harm.

Depends - Many/most are required You best bet is to run msconfig and change what starts up there.
