Is there any possibility to restore win xp in its "virgin status" ?? i mean, like it was after the first installation? I have a lot of things going wrong here and actually i was planning to format c: after having saved all my data on dvds, but isnt there an easyer way? i recently unistalled SP2 because it screwed up my HP printer and now strange things happen like icons disappearing, kernel32 errors, or "llass32.exe cannot find Einsprungspunkt" (thats german i dont know whats the word in english). So, i got no System recovery point older than a week, can i just "reinstall" winxp from the cd over my ... well 'damaged" system or something like that? i really want to get rid of EVERYTHING and install and update manually so i know whats in there.

What to do ?

Booting from the XP cd, removing the partition and building a new one and formatting is the route you want to take, but you need to backup your data I wouldn't try a repair
