Why you can't recieve mail and it stays in the outbox

Hope someone can help. I'm using Outlook 2000, I ran the auto setup without any problems there. My problem is I can recieve mails but anything I send stays in the outbox.

As far as I can tell the settings are ok but I must be missing something.

In Outlook, go to "Tools", "Mail Setup", check the box that says "Send immediately when connected".
