I recently bought a toshiba laptop at an auction. Upon start-up i found that to log on to window i must enter a password. Please tell me how to bypass this so I can avoid formating and reinstalling. It is running Windows 2000 Professional built on NT technology. PLEASE HELP. If you need more info please E- mail me.

You would have to try logging on as administrator and change the password The password for the administrator account is set by the installer of the Operating system at the time of the install It can be changed in user manager If you do not know any of the passwords then you need to talk to the person who set up this laptop(or the person you bought it from) Otherwise its time to reinstall.
