I was called to a house last night because of a slow computer. I ran Adaware and Spybot and both found very few objects ( 51 adaware and 20 Spybot) however when I went to do a defrang and disk cleanup there were no system tools in the Start > Programs > Accessories > Nosystem tools. Do they hide somewhere if never used? Or how do I install them. She informed me she had never heard of system tools so she has never tried to use them. the system is 5 years old and has w98 on it. I did all of the windows updates but I am sure it needs to be defragged and a disk cleanup done

You could try adding them in (if she has her '98 CD) in Add and Remove>Windows Components This may originaly have been a custom install that left large parts out to save, in those days, valuable space on a 3Gb hard drive.

I don't remember whether typing defrag in the Start>Run command box will work in '98 but it's got to be worth a try.
