I just bought a secondhand Dell Optiplex GX100 which came with Win2000 but I had to wipe the hard drive and install Win98 to be compatible with my home office network.
I need to reinstall an appropriate display adapter but the Dell support site gives quite a long list of possible drivers and I don't know which one to select.
I entered the service tag code from the sticker on the side of the computer into the support website but got a "not valid" message back so I guess that means service support for this unit has expired.
I opened the case to look for a display adapter card but couldn't find one, couldn't see much else but a big sound card.
Should this model have a standard display adapter and if so what is it? Any Dell-philes have an answer on that?

As far as I know, the service tags do not expire online, even if the unit is out of warranty.
Try this link:
http://support.dell.com/support/dow...s=19&l=en&s=dhs
And re-enter your tag there, or choose your machine model/type from the other drop-down list.
