I have a Sony PCV-RS400C with a Pioneer DVR-106D (DVD/CD burner) & a Samsung SC-140C (CD ROM) running Windows XP. Everytime I load a CD or DVD into the PC it freezes up and has to be "hard-started." The only time that a disc can be inserted and run is when I'm logged out of all user profiles, then log into a user profile and then its 50/50 at best. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this annoying problem? Sony hasn't got a clue, nor does Best Buy.

There is a possibility that one of the drives is shot and thus hogging the IDE bus, which in turn will lead to a hangup.. take out one at a time, disconnect DVD and try accessing the CDROM.. take out CDROM and try accessing the DVD.. etc...

it might aswell be that the AUTOPLAY/RUN function of WinXP is causing this aswell.. turn it off.. then accessing the drives like you would a HD/FD...
