I have a friends Win98SE system that keeps getting an error while starting. The error : Windows encountred an error accessing the system registry. Winindows will restart and repair the system reg. for you. After, it goes to repair and gets this error.
Windows found an error in your system files, and was unable to fix the problem. Try deleting some files to free up disk space on your windows drive. If that does not work then you will need to install windows to a new directory.
The drive has enough space in it 19Gigs and it has 256 of ram. Also, is there a way to reinstall Win98 and still keep your data?
Thanks

Try Boot to "Command Prompt Only" using the win98 Startup menu (press and hold CTRL during end of POST) and from C:\>
type SCANDISK C:
if using multiple partitions - SCANDISK /ALL
then when complete, exit Scandisk and
type SCANREG /FIX
then if it completes, Boot into Safe Mode and run Scandisk again.
