Hi not sure if this is the right forum for such simple question. I was just given a used Gateway with Windows 2000 Pro and can not find “Scan Disk” on it.

No, there isn't, but there is "chkdsk".

Go to Start > Run, and type:

cmd

At the prompt, type:

chkdsk /?

Unlike the 9x kernel, it can't do repairs when Windows is running, so it will check your disks at boot time And it won't pop up nearly so often since NTFS drives are less prone to error.
