I have difficulty logging on, sending, and receiving Cox email with Norton Antivirus enabled. Disabling the email portion of Norton's doesnt help but when I completely disable Nortons, email works w/o a problem. The error message I get is "The connection to the server has failed. Account ‘pop.west.cox.net’, Server ‘pop.west.cox.net’, Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E" . Thanks Nick

I've also seen software firewalls do this before Try disabling the firewall long enough to check email.

Also try disabling email scanning on Norton, to help rule out it Open Norton AV, click on Options, then click Email Uncheck both scan incoming and scan outgoing email Restart PC and try.
