I just finished doing a reinstall (soft) of WinME. While going through the setup process, a white box would pop up "SYSTEM ERROR" with 2 buttons, CANCEL & RETRY. It did this several times during the setup process and each time I selectd the CANCEL button. I have reinstalled WinME many times, and have never had this happen previously. Any ideas?

I'm suspecting some kind of virus, but I've run virus software and updates religiously, and have a firewall within the router for th DSL. One thpought I had was that, in using my boot disk, it might have a virus, but I've scanned it too. At this point everything seems to run ok, but I'm still stumped on the error box that kept popping up.

You could have some sort of spyware in your system.

try running a spyware remover.

try running "scandisk" in safe mode let your system sace for problems

and try to repair them.

also if you have removed any software or programs from your system

you could have some leftover data in your registry that needs to be removed.

run a registry checker.

also when you reinstalled win.me did you have your firewall on?

disable your firewall and reboot your system and see if you still get the error.

see if this helps.
