Why does my computer go directly in to sleep mode and will not wake up?

hello my name is jeff and i have 2 computer having the same problem.I heard it could be that the will start up but go directly in to sleep mode and will not wake up.If you now how to wake them up and stop them from doing this again, please help my with that. (may english isn't very good sorry about that)

2 When did this problem start happening?

3 When the computer starts up can you press F5 to go into safe mode?
