Having drive problems??

I have a 5 yr old computer [windows 98], plus a canoscanfb620u scanner,and a hp deskjet 697c printer. i am getting a new computer, [windows xp], can i install the old scanner, and printer with the original cd's,and are they compatible with windows xp rm p.s. i had something strange happen last week. my cd-rom quit working, and in "my computer" it used to say drive E- CD ROM : NOW IT SAYS FLOPPY DISC??? I NOW HAVE 2 FLOPPYS AND NO CD ROM???? I WENT TO HARDWARE AND SOMEHOW NOW HAVE A CDROM IN F DRIVE AND SAYS DEVICE "NOT READY" ??

Maybe you didnt place the E-CD ROM in the correct slot Since you have an upgraded computer you may need to upgrade your device drivers as well Just removing the hardware doesn't remove the device You need to actually uninstall the drivers for the one you are replacing D DVD is probably your old drive and F is your new DVD Burner.
