My computer resources will read 72 - 80% and then I log on to the Internet site, navigate a few links and a page won't load. I check my resources and they have dropped down to 60%. When they get that low, pages never load. I have done the Msconfig thing and kept a log of programs from loading at startup but still experience these problems. I re-boot several times but they still diminish. Why are the resources so high and then drop so low after navigating a few links and get to the point where a page won't load?

Other than:
ScanRegistry
SystemTray
Antivirus program entries
Firewall program entries
Windows 98SE needs very little else, if any, to be checked and enabled in the MSCONFIG "Startup" tab.
System resources dropping down to 60% isn't going to prevent webpages from loading Post a HijackThis log like JSntgSvr suggested It'll tell us whether something is running in the background that's causing the problem Don't uncheck and disable anything in the MSCONFIG "Startup" tab until after your HijackThis log has been posted and reviewed and fixed.
