Check the cable this could be caused by poor cable connections Check to see if something around your desk is providing a high amount of electrical noise Your speakers or fluorescent lights placed to close to each other might cause interference Try moving your monitor to an altogether different location Also try a different refresh rate if your monitor supports it Also the problem could be that your computer is configured to go into standby or doze after a period of inactivity You can check to see if this is the case by right clicking your desktop, click properties, in the properties dialog box, click on the screen saver tab, if your monitor is Energy Star compliant, you will see the logo at the bottom of the window, click power and a Power options window will open, you can change your power options there There could also be a problem with the connection between the monitor and the video card If none of the above is the case you might need to start thinking about getting a new monitor.
