The computer keeps shutting down, it does not restart on it's own and scan disk does not run when it is rebooted. Is it a problem with the power supply because the cords are fine, and nothing else happens (no lights dimming, nothing) it shuts down at random times but always when the computer is being used.

It sounds like a hardware problem It could be the Power Supply or an issue with the Mother Board Try opening up the case to see if it improves airflow Check the Power Supply and make sure it is not overheating If you have a spare Power Supply you might want to try swapping it to to check Have you ruled out virus? If not run a virus scan and if you have an Adware or Hijack program, run them also Hopefully that will have fixed the problem
