I have a PC clone from work, w/no hard disk. I installed my WD hard drive from my other PC. I connected the ribbon and power. All I get is the blue screen, "inaccessible boot disk" message. When it boots up I can enter the BIOS screen by holding the delete key for setup. After that I get lost. The Windows 2000 Pro CD is in the tray but it is not being booted. Any step by step instructions would be appreciated.

Thanx

For the Win2K Inacc Boot Device blue screen..

enter the recovery console (I've had to use the floppy method)

run ChkDsk /r (repair does imply fix) on each of the HDD If the machine can't find autochk.exe, insert the Win2K CD

reboot the machine to Windows -- if this worked then you must now defrag the drives but DO NOT use Windows defrag -- use some other 3rd party application
