Please re-phrase the question

i have a question most of the time if i at my comp my comps light goes out and if i shine a lamp on it i can it stil on

I dont understand this question are you trying to say that when you are on the computer your computer light goes out, and if you shine a lamp on the computer screen you can still see it on? well if this is what you are trying to ask that question, here is a suggestion:

when the computer lights go off, if you can still see the monitor on did you try turning off the monitor?
