When l go into explorer l can see all my folders etc but if l try to make a new folder explorer freezes

This has me puzzled. Recently when l go into explorer l can see all my folders etc but if l try to make a new folder explorer freezes. hourglass appears but nothing happens. I can move around inside explorer as long as l don't try to create a new folder. Anyone ever have that happen before? I haven't installed any new software that l can think of and my spyware & antivirus checks were clean. Worst of all, it doesn't happen all the time. Help!

Have you recently ran windows update There was an update that gave me a similar issue and I removed it and everything worked fine
