Did you try reinstalling win 98 ?

Silly question. I have a Win 98 system. The IE stopped working (does not start), reinstallation of IE doesn't help. Can I install windows updates w/out the explorer?

Installing windows updates while you have a problem is not a good idea You will only complicate matters.

If a reinstall of IE didn't help, I would do an install of win98 'on top' Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are intertwined A problem in one can affect the other.
