If I go to the drive, select all files and folders including hidden it's only 13GB and not 17GB

Question

Umm my C partition is 20GB. When I get the properties on it it says 17GB used and 3GB free. But if I go to the drive, select all files and folders (including hidden), it's only 13GB and not 17GB......

why is this happening? is it because I may have too many files on my computer? can this wasted space be recovered any how?

This question was answered on December 28, 2004. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

Double click on "my computer", then click once on the "c:drive" folder look at the bottom left in the details area, this is the amount of disk you have used

clicking on all the folders in the c:drive including the hidden ones, doesn't really tell you how much space you have on your disk
