My Microsoft Word program will not open (launch) unless I am connected to the internet.

Simply put: My Microsoft Word program will not open (launch) unless I am connected to the internet. If I try to open Word with my internet(cable) connection closed, Word will freeze and not open. I do NOT have the original CD to reload.

If you installed Microsoft Word 2000 from CD-ROM, follow these steps to download and install the client update:

1 With your Web browser, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/word2000/patch/wrd0901/win98mexp/en-us/wrd0901.exe For additional information about how to download Microsoft Support files, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file

2 Click Save to save the Wrd0901.exe file to the selected folder

3 In Windows Explorer, double-click Wrd0901.exe

4 If you are prompted to install the update, click Yes

5 Click Yes to accept the License Agreement

6 Insert your Word 2000 (or Office 2000) CD-ROM if you are prompted to do so, and then click OK

7 When you receive a message that indicates the installation was successful, click OK
