My computer decided it wanted to just keep shutting down once turned on. I was on the phone with Dell support for a long time and they thought it was my memory card, but I was told by two other computer freaks that it was either the mother board or my power supply. I would like to know if you have ever dealt with this kind of problem.

My system was running fine and all of a sudden it just keeps shutting off. I can't even get in to my F8 or anything it will just shut off.

Please help!!

Sound like the other two computer freaks were right I've seen this happen a lot with a lot of older computers, usually between 3 and 4 years old The first thing i would try is replacing the power supply This is usually the first peice of hardware to crash as a result of time It can be replaced for anywhere between $20-$175 dollars If you have a spare computer or a wiling buddies comupter, try using that power supply so you can find the source of the problem If that doesn't fix the problem, your computer may just be overheating This will cause the computer to shut down to save itself from getting fried Usually, if you replace the CPU fan, this should fix the problem I would also recommend installing another case fan as well These items can both be purshased for around $30 dollars.
