Before doing anything extraordinary You should be sure to have your computer up to date Especially your windows update, antivirus updates, and ad ware remover updates.

First of all you need to have administrator privileges to change system settings If you have windows home XP home edition you have to restart your system Press the F8 key on your keyboard over the 9 and 0 number keys When prompted Choose to boot in safe mode then choose to log in as administrator If there is a password it may be "password" or” administrator"

If you have windows XP Professional, log out and log in as administrator.

Now you have permission to change the paging file size.

Obviously you know how to do that so go ahead If that dues not work put in the windows XP CD in your drive and choose repair windows instillation this should automatically detect and reset all your setting to the default Without any corrupted files.
