Compaq 5838, maxed at 385 ram. Question is: is ther any way to add more memory? System is very slow switching between tasks due to limited RAM & spooling to the hard drive. Perhaps an additional memory card ?
Also, is there a good, cheap source for an original Athlon running at 1 GHz that I could swap into this machine.

Unfortunate your Compaq only support a max of 384 of RAM The only way you can or might be able to upgrade your windows to take more Ram is by replacing the Mother board.
