Do I need special software?

Was wondering if I needed a special software to burn vinyl from Stero to pc ?? I have dvd burner an cd burner in pc now . also can I use software for win 98 on xp ?

2)Many software are compatible in both operating systems, they can be installed, but there are certain software that can't be installed in win98 and viceversa.
