My sound just stopped working. Did everything asked in the Microsoft help and support menu and can not find anything wrong. I restored my computer without success. Direct X diagnostic tool: tested sound which didnt work and gave me a "Failure at step 19 (user verification of software): HRESULTS=0x00000000 (error code). I don't know why the sound just stopped. Have not had a problem with the sound. I am using an COMPAQ Evo N800v notebook.

thank you for your time and assistance

Try this: Remove your computer's sound card, after this proceed to re-install it To remove and re-install the sound card, the computer has to be off If the same problem persists, this mean that you need to buy a new sound card for your computer
