Do you have problems with your laptop?

I have a sony laptop and I went to restart it this morning and it shut down and then tried to start up again but it just stopped booting and sits there. I powered it down after a few minutes and then turned it back on again but all it did was turn on, it did not attempt to try and boot up. I did this a few times and got the same result. I am not sure what could be causing this. I had a computer a few years ago that did a similar thing and the hard drive was blown but it at least gave a message that led me to that answer.
