I have horizontal gray smears across the screen which correspond to text, window borders, etc. I think I have lost some dll files. I found this in Microsoft System Info:

Driver: generic.tvp

File Size: Driver Not Installed

File Date: Driver Not Installed

How can I remove the smears?

This is a video card driver problem

Left click on start, then left click control panel, left click the system applet, then left click device manager

A new window pops up called device manager, left click the plus sign next to the display adapter to see what is your video card i.e.( nvidia geforce4)

Then go to the manufacturers website locate your video card drivers from the support section and download the video drivers

Download the file to a place where you can locate them i.e (my documents)

Install the new video card drivers
