There is a script (I think) that runs and takes over my background and converts it to a pop-up like screen that links to a website. Also puts an icon into the start-up tool bar.

I have "unchecked" making a webpage my desktop through the Web tab under Desktop Items under Display Properties - that works for a bit, then apparently the script runs again and the website link comes up again.

How can I find the script and permanently remove it. Virus software isn't helping...

To get rid of the spyware on your computer you should download and install a spyware removal program.

Such as lavasoft's Ad-aware or Spybot's search and destroy

After downloading these type's of programs they will search for the spyware in your computer and get rid of them for you.
