Is it OK to uninstall and reinstall SP2

Is it OK to uninstall and reinstall SP2 if I'm having problems with a windows installer error?

Uninstalling/reinstalling the SP2 update may replace missing or damaged

files and may fix the problem- a good reason to have SP2 on a CD If you go

the SFC route (first part of MSKB 318378) you should uninstall SP2 before

running SFC from your original WinXP CDs
