How to repair the installation files.

I did a system restore to a check point that was set in the system as a restore point. Ever scince then my computer starts as if the power was turned off with out shutting down, asks if you want to start with the last know working windowd config, safe mode, ect... no matter what you choose the windows XP loading screen apears like windows is going to start but then the screen goes to an ilumminated lblack and dose nouthing at all will not ever let you get to task manager it dose nothing and i cant start in safe mode to roll back the system restore.!! Im stuck I dont know what to do. I did not go into BIOS and change anything before or after I did the restore.

This issue may occur if one or more of the following elements are corrupted; master boot record, partition tables, boot sector or the NTLDR file.

Before you resolve this issue note that you must have your 25-character Product Key to complete these steps and all your saved data will be lost Follow these steps using the Windows XP Setup program to repair the installation

1 Use the Windows XP CD-ROM to start your computer On the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to set up Windows XP.

2 Press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

3 Use the ARROW keys to select the Windows XP installation that you want to repair, and then press R.

Windows XP Setup repairs the installation files, Windows XP automatically restarts, and then the Setup program finishes the repair of your Windows XP installation.

4 Follow the remaining steps to set up Windows.
