What is photo extension

When I doubleclick a photo in my pictures it opens with paint. I select windows picture and fax viewer as default to open pictures, but it still opens with paint. In view option i choose windows picture and fax viewer to open all the .jpg extension files and also selelctec the option "always use this programme to open this kind of files. Still it opens with Paint.Why?

It is possible that the photo that you are opening in Paint is not a .jpg You will want to follow the same procedure for .bmp and .gif to try to cover all the file extension types that photos can be sent in.
