How do I increase the size text displayed on the internet?

I have a Dell Latitude portable and after I put the screendown 3/4th way to clean behind the unit I raised it up and the display was suddenly 1/2 of the screen size. I fixed that but now all the type size for content (ie e-mails,type in Yahoo Instant Messenger and eve the box of it are tiny. I have tried to go to View and also Seetings-Desktop but cannot enlarge the size of the type. Help!

You can open your internet browser and at the top of the screen click on View and then click on Text Size and choose any of the options from smallest - largest.
