Hi,

I am having a problem with my monitor. When I turn the computer on, sometimes the monitor screen will go black. If I turn the monitor off and back on, the screen comes on for approximately 3 to 4 seconds before going black again. Last night I must have spent 15 minutes turning the monitor on and off with this happening. This is happening with increasing frequency but there are still times when the monitor will come on and be ok. My monitor is an HP LCD. What is the problem and how do I fix it? Do I need a new monitor. I bought this one just over a year ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Rob

Rob,

Do you have another monitor that you can hook up to this computer? If you do or you can get one, try it and see if works or not If it does, your problem is most likely the monitor and it will need to be troubleshot and fixed or replaced If the problem still persists with a different known good monitor, your problem is most likely with your Video Card/adapter.
