Last week I started my box up in the morning and it booted up just fine. The desktop started up and then it locked up. The night before I installed the windoes updates, I thought that that is what caused the problem. I ended up using GHOST to to restore my hard drive. When I got it up and running a disabled the automatic updates. The computer ran fine for that day. The next morning it happened again. I don't know what to do now, that is why I am writing to you guys.

There can be two causes for lock-up: software and overheating Try running Disk Defragmenter and Disk Cleanup, both can be found under Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools Also run Error-Checker which can found my opening My Computer right clicking on your hard drive, and selecting Properties/Tools If you can, disable programs from starting-up automatically (like anti-virus programs).

Another problem may you system gets over-heated Open up your computer, turn it on, and check all the fans on your processor, expansion cards, and chassis If a fan is not spinning, then replace ASAP.
