Hi

Last night i spilt some beer on the keyboard of my laptop.

I dried it off, turned it upside down and left it to dry out. since then it wont turn on. the power light turns on for a few seconds and then turns off again.

I have 2 questions:

1. is there a way that i can solve the problem. If not i can send it out for repair?

2. I urgently need to retrive information from the hard drive (work files). Is there any way i can do this in the meantime.

Your help would be appreciated.

You mentioned that you dried out your computer, and that it will not turn on It sounds like your laptop might not work again, because things like coffee, soda, and beer will corrode parts You may be able to salvage the hard drive; however, the laptop is probably ruined Here is one solution you may want to try.

Unplug the Laptop first Then take the laptop apart and remove as many parts as possible dry each part with a soft cloth The parts you can dry off are plane metal and plastic surfaces Be careful with the delicate parts, damp dry them if possible The next thing you need to do is stand your laptop up on some books and allow air to ventilate though the laptop Let it air dry for a week or more Once it is dry put all the parts back in the laptop and try to turn it on

If it is under warranty, don’t take it apart
