How do I Reformat Correctly?

I was reformatting and afterwords I now cannot fdisk or creat partitions it is only reading one partion that was only 8 out of 8056 of space. It will not format anymore nor fdisk. So confused and fustraded!

What you did when reformatting was to Format the drive, created the file system and root directory, but also you removed all data on the drive The only way to correct the problem is to reinstall your start up disk and start over again When you try to reformat again do not go into FORMAT program but use the install programs in the OS.
