I have been infected by the Bagel Worm. My anti virus got rid of it. Is there any information on this worm and what does it do?

This question was answered on March 20, 2006. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.

The Bagel worm is also known as the Beagle worm It is a mass mailer Meaning it propagates itself through email After it infects your machine it will scan for email addresses and then mail itself to those addresses using its own email system The virus opens a port on your computer that can allow someone to install a file or program on your machine The virus expired on January 28, 2004 and is no longer a major threat.

However to be safe you should download the program Webroot Beagle Remover 1.1 You can find it through a Google search It is free and is specifically designed to remove all traces of the virus.

You may also want to advise any people in your email address book to check if thay have been infected as well.
