i have an e machine which came with windows 98 2 i put in a sound card mad dog predator 5.1 no sound was told i have to disable old sound card to windows but cant just take out built in to motherboard was wondering how if can i disable it? thanks jack

You can disable the onboard card in the bios When you hit the power button on the computer, you need to look on the screen and look for the key that needs to be pressed to bring up the bios setup From there you should get a very basic interface where you can disable the onboard sound.

The locaton of this setting varies amoung Mother Boards, so it might require a little searching
