My disk needs to be defragmented very badly - but when I try to run it - it always stops at 23%. I've tried shuting extra things down and doing it in safe mode. Still won't go any further. I think this is maybe the reason computer is sluggish. Is there something I can do to find out what is stopping disk defrag?

It is possible you have errors that are located on your hard-drive and this is why the defragger is stopping Open up My Computer and right click on the hard-drive that is having the issues Then click the tools tab and select the "Check Now" button Put a check mark in both boxes and click "Start." It might pop up with an information box saying it cant run the check right now, if it does click yes that you do want it to run this the next time you restart your computer and then restart your computer It will take anywhere from 10 mins to greater then an hour depending on how many or how few errors it finds This should howerver let you run disk defrag after it is finished.
