I use McAfee virus scan and it detected the Vundo Trojan on my computer. The warning message states that it cannot be deleted or cleaned. I went to the McAfee website and it gives instructions to fix this. The first step in the instructions is to dowload a file called Process Explorer from Sysinternals. The instructions continue with steps to set up this download to remover the trojan. Is this safe? I would hope I could trust the McAfee website for good information.

McAfee and Symantic both have great experience with virus removal Some of the nastiest viruses out there cannot be removed without some additional help If they are recommending a virus removal tool and it's linked from their site, I would trust that it works and shouldn't cause a problem If the recommendation came from a company you never heard of, then I'd be leery Make sure you follow their instructions to the letter, especially if any of the suggestions involve going into the registry and making edits One wrong move in the registry can lead to a very long afternoon Good luck!
